The story start when I'm still working in the lab, a SMS pop up, phone rang, -> BOOKED, 1pm

As simple as that and I have to stop all my works and accompany my girl to the restoran near burger king, Penang! (neh, near the sungai pinang area with the 3 super tall, blue and no purpose tiang)

As usual, my CNY celebration will back to Malacca where my grandparents stay – Jasin, Malacca.

When trying to capture my grandpa praying for the prosperity god, there were some nice fireworks from others houses, without delay, change my camera position and adjust to longer exposure like 30seconds and small aperture like f/22, with tripod and manual focus. I tried a lot and failed, finally get what I want, a few fireworks in a single frame. This is it!

What's wrong when a government is taking action towards those refuse to comply the law regardless of the races?

2008 - MPPP took action against 2,063 illegal hawkers for non-compliance of the law. Malays - 785 cases (38%), Chinese - 1,082 cases (52%), and Indians - 196 cases (10%).

2009 - MPPP took action against 2,789 illegal hawkers for non-compliance of the law. Malays - 815 cases (29%), Chinese - 1,727 cases (62%), and Indians - 247 cases (9%).

This is fact!

According to UMNO-online,

this is considered as non-humanity act for the malay community...

so?!

Is the government only taking actions on certain races?

21st Oct 2010, I cut and shave my hair and become a 'BOTAK'.

There were several reasons for me to do that and I love to be botak!

1. I don't like to care about my hair, no matter how I 'set' them, they still messy.

2. My hair not very much already.

3. I like to be botak (because got people praise me handsome when im botak, haha!)

Recently, I'm tends to be forgetful...

Last week, my first tripod arrived, I was so happy and naive to think that I should be able to grab a 50mm f1.8 II canon EF lens into my bag this week...

Today is 2nd October, my bank account doesnt have much left for the October...

I knew the fact is I cant afford now but, hehe, still thinking positive, can wan la... can wan la...

However, I still need to back to reality and accept the fact that, 50mm, is still a dream...

My first tripod, pop-up flash diffuser, D.I.Y diffuser and remote cable release!

Just bought a relatively cheap tripod from China. Together, free a cable release.

Due to budget problem, after a survey of a year, still cant buy a external flash gun, I wanna try strobe! so, I refer to an angmo DIY this diffuser + bounce card to make the built-in flash softer, the result is really nice! but eat a lot of my 450D power... Then a ready-made diffuser cost RM20, together with a holder and 3 pieces of diffuser, so why not give it a try, and i bought it.

If ask me which one is better, I still prefer the DIY one, hehe... feel the bouncing part made the light source bigger and diffuse more light.

One hot afternoon, A big female cat jump into my room from window(why I know is female is because the visible big breast). After chasing her out, I check the 'drain' outside my room. (My room is at 1st floor, so there is a weird dead end 'drain' like hole for aircon discharge or planting i guess). Surprisingly, 4 kitten inside there! Problem is my hands cant reach out for them! so i modify a plastic to pull them out.

Now they living at the corridor 1st floor, my block. everyone feeding them except us. but they still like to play and sleep at our shoes rack, sometimes even in our shoes.

Only 3 kitten left, another one I cant find her anymore. very playful now. keep fighting and jumping although cant really walk properly.

Gf put a layer at the bottom of the shoes rack so they will nt fall into the gap. Then, start fighting for the space untill we put a shoes to separate the place into 2. Another one still playing with the slipper at the corridor.

I finished my secondary education in SMK Taman Johor Jaya (1) which is ranked number 2 problematic school during my time, and climbed up to number 1 after I'm grad because my super juniors just burned the security guard pondok.

I was actively involved in St. John Ambulance Malaysia then and enjoying school politics as Duty Secretary of SJAM division SMKTJJ1.

Form 6, I have to changed to another secondary school, SMK Permas Jaya, which is a better managed school, but the students there are just too good, they will walk within the line, everyone uniforms are so neat, the toilet is so clean, nobody smoke, no fire burning, no ppl trying to steal the TV from library and the staff and head master are just too good and fair! make me not used to it!

The SJAM here is like a dead organization. With 300 members in the list. Nobody appeared on Saturday Ko-K activity. No proper activity. No proper AGM. As SJAM members, we decided to help them up.

After several meeting and discussion, I found out many things that I thk is possible, is impossible in their mind, esp from Physics class.

This is opposite of my idea that we should try before we say it is not doable, even we failed, we still can learned something from the failure, of course, we need to plan properly.

After so many years, many ppl still worry this and that, aiya, just do it la when u still young, dont scare fail ma...

However, after so many years, I also kena this virus, injected into my mind liao.

Is time to think again and adjust myself.

IF it is not possible, and if I'm not trying hard enough, I will be regret and SJAM of my form 6 school will not be revived.

Just remind myself not to be too EGO, a little bit can la... haha!

Is time to really think about it.

Working with molecular biology, you need imagination, unless you got a microscopic eyes that can zoom into molecules. Here are some tools we using.

A spectrometry, to check on the concentration of bacterial cells, protein, as well as DNA by the reflextion of light.

An Autoclaving machine, heat up to 121C for 15mins, 15bar, in order to sterilize culture media, keep our tools from contamination by microbes.

A weight balance, to measure weight for chemicals, media powder.

Water distiller, to produce clean water free of contaminated chemical like nuclease and protease.

A water bath machine, maintain desired temperature for incubation.

A Polymerase Chain Reaction machine, (PCR), amplification of genes.

A UV light detector, to visualize the results of electrophoresis for analysis.

Kubota centrifugal unit, to separate cells, DNAs, proteins @ desired temperature.

Agarose gel electrophoresis, to run the gel in order to know what u get is what u want.

Not what u want? run again then, u just wasted another 60minutes.

There are a lot other useful stuff for molecular biology such as SDS P.A.G.E for protein analysis, crystallization wells and others.

Mistakes

Sometimes, feeling hopeless and demotivated when things go too slow...

1. E. coli Rosetta-gami2(DE3) pET32-phaCcs

not stable, the expression level keep reducing after sometimes.

Revival of glycerol stock and verification ate most of my times.

Production is still OK. Some part in my mind is asking me to retransform the plasmid again.

However current priority is still crystallization(produce protein fast), and my target for crystallization is end of MAY!

2. Own stupid mistakes(thinking not diverse enough)

Purification in July

The purified PhaC protein seems not pure enough, so, I'm thinking to purify the elution again using the regenerated resin and I did.

However, the results of the SDS PAGE analysis is not good, because the PhaC protein cannot bind efficiently to the resin.

I thought is because of the Regenerated resins. Hence, I try new resin (mistake: I missed something very important here when troubleshooting).

For the 3rd purification, I used the elution from the 2nd purification. The result was the same. Binding of the protein is not efficient. Cannot figure out, think and think and think, and finally....I'm feeling stupid.

There are imidazole with concentration of 250mM in the elution that i used for 2nd and 3rd purification!

My large-scale protein production end here. no more protein. Now speeding for protein production again. I want xstal!

Research, Scientist and Laboratory

Is going to be 6 months soon... The number of time that I'm did my research in lab 414 molecular biology laboratory...

Basically, I like researcher's life, is always full of surprises and disappointments. Of course, very tiring and a very hard efforts are required. So far, There are 4 big stages of my project :

Cloning, Expression, Purification and the crystallization.

Cloning

Construct the desired DNA sequence into a suitable expression vector, and transform into a host, mostly E. coli.

In my case, I'm using pET32 expression vector from Novagen.

Transform into E. coli strain Rosetta-gami 2.

This stage done!

However, I'm trying another expression vector, pCold expression vector, and transform into classic of expression host, E. coli strain BL21 pLySs.

On the way!

Expression

To stimulate the bacterial host in order to over express (translate the gene seq on vector into protein) desired protein.

Optimizations were done, mainly on temperature. 15C, 25C, 30C, 37C. IPTG as inducer with concentration of 0.4mM.

Run SDS PAGE to determine the proteins.

Purification

Using TALON resin, going to try gel filtration soon. maybe can play ion exchange le? yohoo!

The first time marching protest for Climate Change.

It's all happen because of 350.org.

NGO fighting for 350ppm of CO2 level in our atmosphere

The most important number in this planet and the upper safe limit for CO2 level according to Scientists.

The workshop is meaningful and we learned some important skills such as media releasing, event organizing.

The most interesting part is the marching towards UN building.

What the Thai police did is protecting the crowd, unlike my country police, they look for the crowd and stop them.

Anyway, it was a fun event, few thousand people march for

a round 1.30hours, drums, banners, world leader masks, traditional costumes, a lot there!

Just received an email from UM friend, is journals that indicate CO2 level of more than 350ppm in the atmosphere is hurting our coral reef by massive bleaching. Current CO2 level is around 387ppm.

350.org is an international grassroots campaign that aims to mobilize a global climate movement united by a common call to action. By spreading an understanding of the science and a shared vision for a fair policy, we will ensure that the world creates bold and equitable solutions to the climate crisis. 350.org is an independent and not-for-profit project.

What is 350? 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon dioxide in "parts per million" (ppm), so 350ppm is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get there, we need a different kind of PPM-a "people powered movement" that is made of people like you in every corner of the planet.

To all my dear Award of Merit students,

First, I wish to congrats all of you guys did a very good job in yesterday!

Me and Wei Inn were so impressed by you guys! Especially the towing event!

It has been a long time for the training, and almost every training i almost lost my temper.

I have to apologize if I did any 'lost control' behavior or annoying faces to any one of you.

Frankly, is really not easy to train up a bunch of students like you guys to Award level. The gap is quite big. However, the improvement is amazing, awesome and I'm very proud of you guys!

Thanks for all the good and bad memories we all have together, especially my birthday celebration! haha...

Our journey do not end here, is just a beginning, aim for distinction level, then be a good instructor for the future water sapien generations.

I'm so sorry that this time I'm too busy with 350.org and my master. Also, the stupid spotlight causing the pool to close earlier which mean less training time for us.

Although I don't when will the Distinction exam be held, let's dont stop here, fight on and keep up the spirit!

Why I don't like to swim in USM swimming pool?

I think for most of my same kinds, there are less and less fun to swim in the USM pool.

I still can remember how happy am I during first year, to swim in the pool, after stop my training for about 7 years. That's what I check for after I received offer by USM, wow, there is a pool!

During my time as Junior Exco (S n R), we need to arrange events for outings, need to duty as Lifeguards, check the lifeguard room cleanliness, and of course, help monitor the lifeguard disciplines. But second year I'm still enjoy to do all this stuffs, although my results drop under 3.0.

During that time, we all still happy family.

LAst year, during my 3rd year, is a bad year for me.

Being a vice captain, I need to deal more with the higher authority, the pak cik (guarding the entrance), and also members from lifeguards.

When there are too many things come together, I still able to handle it.

But, when too many politics come together, I feel depressed.

Sports should be just sports! but our dear head of sports unit, is doing a great job to stop the development of student sports.

Let's say about the swimming pool.

This is happen recently.

Case 1, USM lifeguard corps

Unit Sukan hired 3 permanent lifeguards to duty at the pool without inform or discuss with USM lifeguard corps. So one day, 3 lifeguards suddenly pop up! and most importantly, they do not know anything about USM pool rules! They were not informed properly by the unit sukan (I dont think they should be called management nor administration unit).

This is a sign of not respecting students body. As being the most active lifeguard corps in Malaysia, Sports unit USM is trying to stop us from growing, ya, good job, USM lifeguard corps is going down. * And the so call permanent lifeguard is just sitting up at the entrance and look from there, teaching swimming while on duty. This is called PROFESSIONAL! Unit sukan really did a good job!

Case 2, Minden fencers

My friend is the founder of minden fencer, Abe Woo.

I still remember how hard to build it up in the starting point, exam month but every sunday we will gather at unit sukan for training to fence!

That time, our coach is Sir Lim Pei Jing.

he did contributed a lot to build this sports in USM.

Now, he resigned from USM. Why?

Sports unit accept another coach by just looking at the letter and never never consult the team.

This is another similar case, never respect others.

What a loss for Minden Fencer.

How USM faces her students?

First, I need to clarify that I do love USM.

What I mentioned here is what my friends facing,

From undergraduate to post graduate.

Case No.1, How Sport Unit USM, handle us?

Just the key point, staff frame up student, then student been scolded by head. When defense, head will believe students or staffs? Usually staffs, I feel student is not their assets in their mind yet...

Case No.2, How Faculty staff, handle us?

When there is a whistle blower, the whole school staff will follow what our beloved P.M said, '1 Malaysia', but they are '1 school'. How to do that? but setting up the whistle blower as enemy. warn him/her, threaten him/her, give him/her problem when they need approval from school.

Another case that students are not treated as students.

Case No.3, How Supervisor for post graduate, handle post graduate?

When you finish your project, he/she will add on more work for you, and promise to publish a paper for you. Let say there is another P.H.D student under same supervisor. After you get all your works done and happily want to proceed to publication. your supervisor give all the work result to the P.H.D student to publish. AND no acknowledgement for you, althought you are the one did all the work, while the P.H.D did not.

Oh, this is very very unethical, as researchers, publication is very important. In order to become co-author, you need to involved in the projects, not just sit there and wait for the results.

There were other cases that I cannot remember, even as lifeguard duty in USM swimming pool, the 'professor' who came to swim will try to show off that he is a prof. Lifeguards want to make sure the safety and hygiene of the swimmer, so have to check and ask him politely. he ask lifeguard name, and say i'm a professor from KANITA. So what?

Even when high level people suggest an idea, the higher authority reject, but after sometime, the project idea have been used and never acknowledge the idea giver, some more took all the credit for it.

USM, you should treat students as your assests, not your burdens.

And Please don't use APEX to threaten your students anymore! You think student activists don't have any credit for getting the APEX status? Where are you when the judges ask students opinions? Where are you when the judges interviewing student activists?

I cannot see any sight that USMers want to change their ways of thinking, look at the attitude of some security guards towards students and those who drive nice cars, you can spot the differences!

Think of some scenes while I became as vice captain of USM swimming pool... I think should put up a post about why I dont like to go USM swimming pool next time... hehe...

What does Best Instructor Award means?

Best Instructor Award (BIA) by USM Lifeguard corps is a encouragement for me to take on more challeges in becoming instructor of higher level of life saving.

But, is my ability match the qualification of becoming an instructor? a best one?

Something is struggling in my head, among candidates for the real examination.

Attendance VS speed, which one should i choose? or should I let them decide themselves?

is the class that having worst attendance in my 2 years teaching. I wouldn't ask for more, is the student self initiative. As university students, you should be aware and be disciplines. As a USM lifeguard, you should be more self discipline.

As instructor, there are a lot of dissapointment on myself. I cannot fullfill my responsibility.

I cannot complete my task. I dissapoint my students who always attend the class.

2 more days to the real exam, I praying and craving for miracle.

Update, Monday 7pm: after nearly 28 hours on top of the Palace of Westminster, the remaining 31 volunteers have been been taken into police custody after ending their protest peacefully. Thanks to everyone who's been supporting them!

Update, Monday am: 31 volunteers are still ocuppying the roof this morning, 24 came down last night and were arrested and all have been bailed to return.

Fifty-five Greenpeace volunteers scaled the walls of the Houses of Parliament and are now occupying the roof to call for a new style of politics in Britain, one capable of rising to meet the challenge of climate change.

Tomorrow MPs return from their summer break and the government's own Committee on Climate Change will publish a progress report on UK carbon emissions. They make it clear that Britain is not doing enough to meet its commitments, and insist that a "step change" in emissions cuts is needed. With just 60 days go until the critical climate summit in Copenhagen - which faces a very real chance of failure as things stand - Britain has yet to show true commitment to making the process a success. We need politicians who are thinking about the next generation, not just the next election.

Academic year 2008/2009, a special year for USM, my dear beloved university.

We get our status as APEX U, we aiming to be best U in this region and go on top of the world...

But not yet reach one year of carrying this status, a terrible mistake had been made, an internet blunder where accidentally posted unfiltered admission lists.

As parents, I think they will inform all their relatives and friends about their kids getting into APEX U, because they are proud of them!

If I were the student, I will feel very very sad.

If I were the parents, I will feel no face.

So, who will tolerate with this blunder which made my family no face? (esp for chinese)

But is USM deserved a chance to correct her mistakes and be better?

of course! Why we need to blame for a mistake that already been made?

We should focus on how to avoid this to be happened again.

If this blunder happen again next year, woisheh! we will be famous and even myself cant accept this.

Reading newspaper, everyday, there will be some politicians or reporters comment about USM blunder, everytime I read, everytime I hurt, is like someone you love being scolded for a mistake.

As USM student, I also regret for the mistake USM did, but we are still USM students, Don't worry, we will support you and fly towards our goal in the future together! (not the ranking but the real effective education system) We love you, USM!

Kapas Marang Swimathon 09

My first swimathon at Terengganu, Swim from Kapas island to Marang with estimated distance 6.5KM. We went there on Friday morning by USM Van with total of 9 swimmers, 1 driver and 1 officer. The journey was uncomfortable due to the traditional Malaysian Road and the seats of the traditional van.

However, I'm enjoyed the swimming of 2 hours 35 minutes with 25th placing in the MEN category. I trained my mental fitness with this event, physical fitness? I think I can be more fit... When I swim, I keep imaging the shark is following me, so I keep looking at both side, while I'm taking my breath with front crawl. A great experience! Awesome!

When reach USM gate, I feel stressed... A feeling of run away surrounding me...

I hate it, and that's maight be a reason why my academic results were not that great...

The interest was not there, the education system was fixed and not fun. Most importantly, I don't think what i Learned in the lecture was applicable... So, is not 'so' meaningful and eventually that leads to low productivity study...

I think what i have learned in the swimathon was greater than what i had learned in my 3 years course for my personality building.

Is just training for fun!

SEM of filter paper degradation...

Control for this experiment, culture medium without D1 bacteria, Hence, the degradation of this filter paper is mechanical.

This is the bacterial culture, filter paper already degraded into pieces, Both pictures taken at the same time, incubated at 30C, 180 rpm around 4 days or till degradation observed.

This is one of my experiment in my final year project, isolation and sceening for cellulolytic bacteria...Filter paper is made from alpha-cellulose, hence, cellulolytic can survived with cellulose/filter paper without any other carbon source in my culture broth...

In this experiment, We focus on 2 topic, that is the effect of the enzyme produced by cellulolytic bacteria, cellulase on the filter paper structure and surface areas. This can be showed by the 50X magnification picture, control is the one with whole linked cellulose surface while Filter paper infested with D1 showing a maggi mee like structure, all the linkage were broken down...

2nd key is the way of attacking cellulose by bacteria D1, from the picture, Dr. Razip and me suspect that they are attacking from the inside out, hence, the surface of the filter paper is smooth and non-degraded, however, further investigation should be done to know what and why happen...

22 - 7 is the last quarter scores...We restricted their scoring...hehe, they won foon yew B...We won them...But sadly that is our 1st win and our last win...we are over age for the next year...

Today have to go for CPR practical slot, when doing some revision, i'm was thining of my life in clinic after SPM...

This is the card i made for my clinic fellows, that little old man is my boss... " Apa masalah adik" is his way of asking patients...

Dr. George, Indian but can speak well in mandarin, a very geng dr, I'm learnt alot from him...

Dr. Stanley, can say is my far far relative, hehe, his brother marry my auntie's sister, wa, damn far..

Pak cik, Hospital assistant, his dressing skills is very good, Very funny guy...

Revised about cardiac arrest, think of one case, during afternoon shift, a bunch of police came, with a patient who show the sign of cardiac arrest, heart beat more than 130, sweating palm, face turning green, Dr asks the police send him to hospital asap... they duwan use their car pulak, after some times, they send him to hospital...

Pak cik told me they drag the time too long so god bless him...I not sure hows the guy now...

The guy was arrested by the policemen when he gambling(MahJong) and kena spot check...

One day morning, I reach clinic as usual, 8am...

A patient came with his wife, he is asthma patient, when the time he came, we set him as emergency case, because he is out of breath already, we set the ventolin nebulizer for him.

not yet 10sec, he collapsed, we moved him to firm surface...

Dr.George check response and breathing, then together with pak cik(compression), they start 2 man CPR...this is the 1st time I involved in a real case. Previously is all in St.John ambulance competition and team training.

His wife cry very very loud, I was beside her, I feel there is nth that i can do...

Calling her sons and dughters in home: " Boys, Wake Up!!! Go pray for your dad!! he going to die!!!!" These few words stunned me and keep in my minds till todays...

After few minutes, he revived and Dr give him injection(forgot wat injection ad), then I standby...Check for his conditions untill the ambulance came...

I was the one who keep claening the scene, because he vomit dunno wat, dark red colour liquid, with high viscocity... hehe...

Parents bring their children into the clinic at the middle of the night, look so ganjiong about them...that's love...

16th JAN 2009 not a good day for me i think...

Noon, go to lab, met Dr.Razip, discuss my problems with him, he calculate enzyme activity, teach me some theories and adjust my protocol...

Then, I went to my biotech lab to prepare my culture medium for D1 isolate for autoclaving. While waiting for autoclave, I'm going for subculturing the isolate from Agar.

After subcultured, I'm trying to do gram staining. The bad thing start from here, I'm using the fire to fix the sample on my glass slide, Then, burn the glass is what I didn;t try before, Lab assistant just told us not to do, but why... so I'm put my glass on the fire... Then, it boom! become pieces, WOW! A small piece of the hot glass drop on my hand, lagi WOW!, i push it away, but my dead skin gone, left white layer of it...

Right after my hand kena boom...

3rd glass, look quite successful, but at the last stage, after I added in safranin, I drop it accidentally, and, it broken again.

4th glass, I manage to stain it, but I think the layer of the cells are too thick, I cant c anything from the slide...

4.30pm then, the medium autoclaved, so I decide to subculture D1 isolate first, After subcultured is already 5.30pm, Then i keep my stuff, planning to go pool...

Interaction day, an annual activity by USM lifeguard corps S & R department, hehe, S & R is Social & Recreational(but our 2nd batch captain established since 1979 , u can imagine how old is him, told us is Sex and Relax...is just a joke la btw)

Interaction day is like a orientation for new lifeguards, aim to strengthen the bonds between seniors and juniors and ex-lifeguards. During my 1st year, we went to Sungai Sedim, my 2nd year, we went to Dusun Eco, This year, we went to Bukit Hijau.

Interaction day will have its own committee, solely from S & R department (those old biscuits only)through discussion and argument for games we will play and how juniors will be played.

10th JAN 2009, 6.00am, we gathered at Padang kawad USM, and have breakfast at Khaleel, an mamak restoran opposite USM. There are cars, forgot how many, i think is 11, so we go by car pool.

Filter paper SEM

Academic year 08/09, my final year in microbiology, at the same time, I have been assigned a final year project title under Assoc. Prof. Dr. Razip Samian. Screening for cellulolytic bacteria from external environment. Whole project idea is searching for bacteria that able to degrade cellulose (Oil palm wastes such as palm fronds) into glucose, then, from glucose to ethanol. For my FYP, I will concentrate on the 1st conversion, that is from cellulose to glucose.

Why is it important?

Ethanol is the popular biofuel that contain the potential to replace our dependence on fossil. The research field is emerging, US government urge and support the scientists to develop on this, there are cars moving by using ethanol instead of gasoline. some using mix between gasoline and ethanol, some say it is called gasohol. Hence, if success to search for cheap and easy methods, we will have unlimited sources of energy from the agricultural wastes.

These are pictures of Scanning electron microscope (SEM) for filter paper degradation observation. However, No significant results showed, after discuss with Dr, we think that this is not a good way to do the test, but have to be included in my thesis also.

FT32, bacteria isolated from Kemendor, Jasin Melaka, oil palm estate, there is a crack, not sure whether is attacjed by bacterial enzyme or mechanical damage.

What I did in my University life?

Take a camera to convocation to shoot some memorial scene with your graduating seniors, then? keep the pic in your external as deepest memoris, i think the pictures will be forgotten if you not very cook with the particular senior.

Here is me, cau cieh and chin yee. cau cieh is our lifeguard senior, from industrial technology school, a strong runner, is one of the 北海四大健将! haha...

Orgnize some useful course for the uni community, such as this CPR course for basic life saving. This is our annual activities...erm, is every Sem...aim to promote CPR to the non-medical personnel esp USM students. It is also the basic requirement for bronze medallion entry (1st life saving level). Examiner (standing infront of the audiences) - Mr.Hooi, 3rd batch of USM lifeguard captain if not mistaken.

When boring, act dying...let other ppl save u...good for them as practice, good for me as i can rest...hehe...

September 28 is our anniversary,

September 25 is my birthday,

January 06 is her birthday.

She is a ordinary chinese girl from Tai Ping, staying in KL, currently studying in USM Penang.

2006 July, we entered the University as fresh man, I'm taking pure biological sciences while she is taking management study. We do not know for each other.

I'm taking life saving course in my 1st academic year and passed as basic requirement to join USM lifeguard corps in the 2nd SEM 06/07.

She is learning swimming, passed the bronze medallion level and join the corps in 1st SEM 07/08.

I'm majoring in microbiology after being 2nd year student while she is majoring in international business during 2nd year. (**The chairman of this international business is Datin who lack of management skills, responsibilities and creditibility)

2nd year, we started to get to know each other...

we start sms-ing, have lunch together, walking around in the campus, caring for each other.

not yet a official couple.

she sick one day, I worry, but nervous to show my care, she is down.

In room, like the ants on the fire, cant sms, cant enter her room(malaysia is a very conservative country, guys cant enter girl's block)

then, she better, i treat her lunch.

Chinese new year reunion dinner 07/08 of lifeguard corps, as the social n recreational department head, we organize this dinner. for the reunion of juniors and seniors and ex-lifeguards.

This is me using rope throwing rescue to save a 10meters away casualty and exit casualty in life saving demonstration to pulapol.

Towards the end of the Semester, what have I did in the first term of my final year?

Yup, I conducted my 2nd Bronze Medallion lesson this term...

My class is conducting on Tuesday and Thursday 7pm to 8.30pm, excluding extra class.

Lifesaving is the act involving rescue, resuscitation and first aid. It often refers to water safety and aquatic rescue however it could include ice rescue, flood and river rescue, swimming pool rescue and other emergency medical services. As life savers, we have to be alert and able to assess the situation. Importantly, release and defense yourselves from potential dangerous casualty.

Initially there are 6 persons who entered my class, then 2 quits.

First one, a chinese guy who claim that he is scared of the water during the fitness test for B. Med students. Bonus: he havn't entered the water yet and just look at the pool and make the decision.

Second one, a indian guy who follow several lessons of mine but received call from him one day.The conversation...(those still can remember la)

Him: Hi, Adrian, I got something to tell you...

Me: Yes, Whats that?

Him: I afraid I can't attend your class today because I having flu.

Me: O.K! No problem, get more rest, bro...

Him: I got 1 thing to tell you, Adrian. (is a sad part, so imaging is sad voice) My lungs having some problems, doctor asks me don't do vigorous exercises.

Me: Ops, Ok........

After that, he didn't come my class anymore... =)

2 malays are not obey to the instruction by lifeguard on duty, I help up.

They insist want to stay in the pool because they PAID!

They stay as they wish...

After close pool, after bathed...

I'm sitting at the grandstand, waiting for the others...

Then, I heard some voice of babi5...

I look up and sit near them...

the stupid guy said: We 2 ppl only, didn't use all lane, you all training use so many lanes!

I said: U wan complaint, go unit sukan!1

Stupid, really stupid guy said: I don't want to talk to you, you shut up!

****Oh, what the fuck! man! This stupid malay really thought his RM1 is very GENG!2As usual, I bear...

Then, I insist my point AGAIN, You want complaint, go Unit sukan, we are just duty on behalf of them.

Then the mother fucker, stupid, kurang ajar, shamed USM malay student said: I'm don't want to talk to you, you shut up!

****Excuse me? What the fuck, what the hell, WHAT do you think you are?

I shout: You SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!

He said: Kurang ajar....3

I stunned! Who is the one kurang ajar? Who is the one shut other people mouth first?

I replied him steadily: SIAPA4 kurang ajar dulu?

He quiet and look at other side...

OK...that is what happened 50minutes ago...now I'm more calm and more rational...

USM olympic-sized swimming pool

open daily from 5pm-8.30pm

( But now the pool light is not well functioned6 so is closed at 7.30pm for public, except for lifesaving class can proceed till 8.30pm with instructor!)

The reason for public pool users to be leave at 7.30pm is due to safety reason!!!!!! Not lack of space!

As vice captain of USM lifeguard corps 08/09,

I hope that all pool users can respect and follow the instruction especially issues regarding safety!

Student Lifeguards in USM who duty at the pool volunteery during Study term, no salary, used up 2 hours to life-guarding the pool safety...

We serve for USM pool users, aqua sapiens who love swimming, who like water sports...

When something happen, we saved life, but usually it will not be remembered...

What public remembered is when lifeguard pointed at him/her and tell them 'You cannot do this/that due to this/that reasons'...

1. Unit Sukan - Sport Unit in malay, department incharge of sports facilities.

2. GENG - sorta excellent or very O.K in cantonese.

3. Kurang Ajar - lack of education, culture in Malay.

4. SIAPA - Who in Malay.

5. Babi - Pig in Malay, normally it represent other things or human who are bad.

6. pool lighting is not well functioning - it still can be see quite clear but sports unit only allow life saving students continue training after 7.30pm.
